High and (finally) Dry
May Training was fun, despite being soaking the entire time due to faulty rain gear and starting to go hypothermic (it had to be me). We hiked 5 miles the whole time. We did a lot of intense spooning and some creative eating, and made the most brilliant idea of a bear bag contraption of all time. It was sweet. Also, there is a new FOOT game that may just be the best game ever. But the even BETTER news is that I'm coming HOME tomorrow where it's NOT pouring rain!!! HOME!!! And I got A's in my non-lab classes...the verdict awaits on the final battle. On the agenda for tonight: FOOT dinner, going to a party but not drinking (Sudafed...bleh *coughs up pleghmwad*), SLEEEEEPING...then hopping the 7:40 shuttle! C'est fini...

Freeeeedom!
Mood: ![]() Leaving for May Training in an hour and a half! The weather looks ominous, but I don't care. I successfully moved out, found happy homes for my furniture, and most of all, beat that lab into the ground. Unfortunately, I lost my beautiful fingernails in the process. I'm so ready for some HIKING!! And then some California at last...

Only three more days.
Mountain Dew is one of those things I just hadn’t thought about for a long time. The last time I remember drinking it was at a party in art class I took in what must have been first or second grade. I remember being struck by the vaguely extraterrestrial color more than anything else. I don’t even think I’ve seen anyone actually drink a Mountain Dew since then. There are, of course, the rumors of its high caffeine quotient, which I suppose it what compelled me to purchase a bottle (of the Diet variety) from the library vending machine today. Well, let me tell you, that is some nasty stuff. It just tastes bad. Supposedly there’s concentrated orange juice somewhere in it, but it was not nearly as sweetly satisfying as orange soda, nor as refreshing as any of the plethora of lemon-lime drinks that start with “S.” It’s more akin to what your standard Citrus Burst dishwashing liquid might taste like carbonated and mixed with lots of sweetener. Maybe the full-calorie version is palatable. I don’t know. I drank it anyway. Oh, and never try to mail anything non-priority in a reused Priority Mail box. Never assume the post office sells packing tape. Never assume that if there’s no line at 9:30 that there won’t be one at 10. And never, ever assume that once you’ve left your unusable boxes of books at the post office to go buy packing tape at the bookstore, returned, repacked all your books in a ground rate box while people look at you like some zoo exhibit, and stood in line for 20 minutes, that they won’t miraculously have acquired packing tape and ask you if you would like to buy some. Yeah, I had a great morning.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
Now Playing: "The 59th Street Bridge Song," S&G I've officially started moving out! Looks like the storage space isn't about to fill up as fast as I had thought, and everyone was very nice and helpful there. Yay D'port. I AM SO EXCITED to finally live there next year! Two of three finals are done, and both went well. The last one should be cake. Lab still might eat me but at least I'll have gone down fighting. Summertime, summertime...

Things that annoy me!
Mood: ![]() 1. Group projects. 2. Working with other people in group projects. Especially when those people don't do what they're supposed to do. 3. Rain. 4. The library when there are people in it (seeing a pattern here?) 5. Laundry. 6. "First come first serve" storage space. wtf. 7. Losing my hairbrush (*is frantic*), then, finally, finding it. Horrifying, I know. 8. Having a fantastic dream and not being able to remember it. 9. My iPod being a spaz. 10. Everyone else finishing exams before I do. >_< YAY FOR MAY! . . . s a r c a s m Edit: Feeling much less annoyed now that my lab partner actually did do her part before leaving. Phew. But I am annoyed that there hasn't been a new Fafblog in a month! I'm starting to worry about our dear friends over there.

Spoof dump!
Mood: ![]() I love Video Dog. Here for your viewing pleasure are Colbert's monologue from the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, and his accompanying audition tape sketch. High-quality stuff. Then, catch Colbert in his own element in a priceless interview with quite possibly the stupidest lawmaker I've ever seen. Congressman Gingrey's not the only one who trusts in the Bible. Remember Growing Pains? Good old Kirk Cameron, formerly Mike Seaver, has turned to evangelism. Speaking of "sinful lifestyles," this parody proves that spoofing Queer Eye never gets old. Finally, I present the cutest fight ever. I want that puppy.

How is April over? OMG.
Mood: ![]() (Yes, I just put OMG in the entry title. I've swallowed my pride. This blog is naught but a narcissistic procrastination device and I can use AIM-speak if I so desire, dammit). So what have I been up to this Reading Week? Well, how can we put this...not reading. I have been working very hard on lab, and it's getting somewhere at last. This should be the last group project I ever do at Yale, which is cause for celebration in itself. I almost wrote a Spring Fling entry like last year's, but I didn't. I had a wonderful time. I had been grumbling about the impending rain, but when the rain actually started falling during Ben Folds' set, it was beautiful. Then Ludacris came on, making fun of Yalies. Right away he asked how many of us had gotten drunk for the first time today, and he kept acting surprised that we knew his lyrics. By the end I feel that we changed his opinion of the Ivy League for the better. We're not all collar-popping prepsters and pretentious indie-nerds. Well, we may be, but that doesn't mean we don't know the Ho song. Then Tracy and Laura and I went and got more beer and Thai food and made fun of the universe together. My procrastination skills have doubled since Finals and I last did battle. I've been hanging out on AIM. I've been running in the beautiful weather. I've been waiting for the new Bleach episode even though it's just lame filler for the forseeable future. I've been talking to my suitemates for hours about the least consequential of topics. I've been theater-hopping, library-hopping, bar-hopping, web-surfing, forum-lurking, all-around work-shirking. It's fantastic. Take that, Finals, I'm having FUN! I am HAPPY. I pwn you! Speaking of happy, I had a divine asiago cheese bagel this morning at ABP. It was sooo good. I had not been eating that much for few days and decided I needed some soul nourishment, and it was like eating a cloud of baked joy. The cheese had somehow permeated the pores of the bagel and it was so soft and flavorful and tasty like woah. Then I found out it was only 360 calories and cost 94 cents. God exists, and, She is not vegan. Finals schedule: May 2: Spanish May 4: Inca Culture and Society May 8: Great Discoveries May 9: Lab is due. May 10-15: May Training in the pretty woods. May 16: Homeward bound! Obligatory real world content: I bet this would have been something to see. For those to whom I have not yet bragged, I got full funding to go to Peru. So loaded right now. I love my life.

Buzzed and Cheered
Mood: ![]() Now Playing: AND singing! -- Old Crow Medicine Show, "Wagon Wheel" There are few things in life that can fill the heart with pure unadulterated delight. A beautiful TUIB concert is one of those things. Especially one that involves lots of dancing and rocking out to the best encore I think I've ever seen...and Dan wearing a ridiculous Alabama jacket...and Anny acting like she's five...and Austin/Evan/Paul drinking waaaaaay too much whisky...and banjo-man PHIL being the greatest person ever. He's some kind of god. I heart them with all my love. Spring Fling is tomorrow. Unlike last year, there won't be bulldogs running all over Old Campus. In fact, if the forecast is correct, nothing will be happening on Old Campus. Ben Folds and Ludacris (strange bedfellows if ever there were) will be playing in the hockey rink instead. Bummer. I've been drinking on Monday night for the second time this month. I'm not quite sure what this means. I rocked my oral exam today. My Spanish teacher loves me. I deserved that beer and cheese.
